A heartfelt thank-you goes out to People’s United Community Foundation for awarding Goodwill of Northern New England a $7,000 grant last week. These funds ensure at-risk youth in the Lewiston/Auburn region of Maine, who are served through our Take 2 program, are able to round out their on-the-job experience. Goodwill’s Take 2 program helps at-risk youth reintegrate into their community while developing their marketable job skills.

The People’s United Community Foundation grant to Goodwill will provide on-the-job training for Take 2 participants who have completed the program. Goodwill’s Business Service Representatives will collaborate with local businesses to offer an on-the-job training contract that would reimburse the employer up to 50% of wages for an average of 8 weeks of training for up to 40 hours a week per participant – a perfect example of work that works for all parties involved!

Goodwill Industries provides valuable services to our community and all throughout Northern New England,” stated Samuel Ladd, Officer of People’s United Community Foundation, and President of People’s United Bank in Southern Maine.  We are pleased to once again support Goodwill.
